http://www.keith-bradley.com/arch/rome_4.html Kristin Jones, a New York artist who lives in Trastevere for part of the year, sees the Tiber as a central part of Romeʼs identity. She started the Tevereterno (Eternal Tiber) project to engage a connection with the river, she sees the void of the river space as an opportunity for gathering and arts. She chose a site between Ponte Sisto and Ponte Mazzini bridges for its rational engineered shape – which reminded her of the Circus Maximus. As the Circus Maximus was a point of Spectacle, so should be the Piazza Tevere. Jones needed a symbol that immediately communicated Rome to polarize the project. She decided on the She Wolf from Romeʼs founding story – a symbol of culture and nature, with deep connections to the Tiber. Jones research led her to select twelve variations of the She Wolf (from the hundreds that she discovered) for the first art installation in Piazza Tevere.
